As you will see on the tour, the City of David is a highly interesting site, but there are a few technical things you need to know if you’re to enjoy it properly. There are a lot of stairs. While the upper part is accessible to people with walking difficulties, between the water system and the end is a large section that requires your heading underground down a lot of steps. You can take a shuttle back up, or walk back up along the Pilgrimage Road, which is also underground. You can choose to walk along Hezekiah’s Tunnel, in which the water comes up to your thighs, so you’d better have a flashlight, bathing suit and flippers. If you don’t want to walk through water, you can walk along the dry Canaanite channel, since both lead to the same place: the Siloam Pool.
